We Love Wii!

I have to give a shout out to Japan’s greatest invention, and winner of the highly coveted Chrysler Design Innovation Award—Wii Fit! This product has truly begun to change the lives of overweight Americans…including Tyler and I. We have spent hours playing this “game” and just can’t seem to get enough. I know people may not see how a little game can truly give you an effective workout, but it can. For those of you who don’t know, Wii Fit is made up of 4 areas:

• Aerobic Exercise: Up to 30-minute exercises that are designed to get the heart pumping.
• Strength Training: Controlled motions using arms, legs, abs, etc.
• Yoga: Classic poses that focus on balance and stretching.
• Balance Games: Fun activities, such as ski jumping and heading soccer balls, which challenge the player’s overall body balance

It even has a section for just plain running, which is much more enjoyable than a treadmill, I might add. Probably my favorite part of the Wii Fit is that I want to keep going in order to unlock other games and poses. It’s always exciting when there’s something new to try. But, nonetheless, we always finish sweaty and exhausted. It was even enough to make us cancel our gym membership. We are hooked.

School's out for Summer!

School has been out for a month now. I’m pretty sure I have it a lot easier than Tyler. He is working full time at his family’s farm, while I am spending my days doing pretty much nothing. I did take a class called “Teaching with Love and Logic”, which was an amazing class. Any and every teacher should read the book by Jim Fay. It is a wonderful approach to teaching. But, now that that is over, my mind is completely off of teaching until August. My days involve: sleeping in, going to the gym, tanning, watching Regis and Kelly, showering, and reading at Rigby Lake. Sounds pretty fun, huh?
